Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 7814
Crashed while contouring to 3000x2000, 600 dpi Graphic
Last modified: 2003-11-26 14:44:14 UTC
While inserting a graphic image into a text file, I had a hard crash of OOo1.0.1 Writer in which OOo did not successfully restart. The crash occurred after my computer had worked for a while at contouring text optimally around a 3000x2000 pixel, 600 dpi 16m color PNG graphic image I inserted (as a link). [Got all that?] The crash was caught by BugToaster (www.bugtoaster.com), and is should be viewable as crash # 349883.
Joost->John: please attach the graphic to this issue to be able to reproduce it
Created attachment 6931 [details] File that causes crash when trying to automatically contour
Reassigned to Hasan.
I can't reproduce this here with OpenOffice 1.1 beta2 on Linux. Then again, I had some trouble figuring out the Contour Editor, never having used it before. Could you try downloading OpenOffice 1.1 beta2 and testing with that? Let us know what happens. If that doesn't fix it, please also give us a mouse-click-by-mouse-click guide to reproducing the problem, and upload the text document you're inserting this into. Thanks!
John, I can't get at the Bugtoaster crash log. Can you get it for us?
WFM with 1.1RC1 english WIN98SE and 1.1Beta2 german WIN98SE Might be a DUP of issue 16625?? Marking the image and doing anything with it (moving, contouring, ...) costs app 35% GDI resources on my PC. If there were left less than 40% GDI resources before you started operating the image your PC can crash. Reporter, please activate RSRCMTR.EXE of your system and observe the GDI-resources. Dan, from Bugtoaster.com I only get "Server Application Error The server has reached the maximum recovery limit for the application during the processing of your request. Please contact the server administrator for assistance." Rainer
I'm the original reporter. I retried this issue on 1.1RC2, and it no longer crashes. [I can't say I like how it auto-contours, but that's a different issue:-] To be honest, I have upgraded my PC (AMD K6-2 400 -> Athlon Slot A 650, same RAM, etc.) and reinstalled Win98 since reporting it.
Hi John, thanks for your very quick reaction. Also it seems, that the problem now is solved for you, I recommend that you have an eye on the GDI-resources - that causes much trouble for me :-( You agree to set the issue WFM? If the problem reappears, you might open a_new_issue_ with a cross reference to this issue. CU Rainer
