Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 90273
Aqua: Japanese characters wrongly rotated in vertical writing.
Last modified: 2009-07-20 15:56:02 UTC
I am using the Aqua port of the 3.0 Beta. When I switch to vertical writing mode the characters I type are not rotated. There are several other similar issues, but they all involve either only certain characters or only bold text. This appears to happen with all characters, regardless of the font. To make sure it wasn't that I was just doing something wrong, I used the document attached to ticket 67197 (http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=67197) which was writing to show the problems with Bold text in previous open office versions. I've attached my screenshot as well as the original screenshot from that ticket and the document to show what I am talking about. I tried changing the fonts in the document, but all of them produced the same results. The fonts I tried were: * Osaka * Hiragino Maru * Hiragino Gothic * Hiragino Mincho * Arial Unicode MS
Created attachment 54181 [details] The document from ticket 67197 that I used to test the issue.
Created attachment 54182 [details] The correct rendering of this document. (except that 'bold' is broken here, per ticket 67197.)
Created attachment 54183 [details] This is what I see when I open the test document in the aqua port of OO Writer 3.0 Beta.
Sorry, to clarify the issue is that Asian language characters (Japanese in my example) ARE rotated in vertical writing, when they should NOT be rotated. I just realized that I got that backwards in my description. :)
