Description tora3 2008-08-11 09:33:57 UTC
Phenomenon:
All characters, not only Western letters but also Asian characters, in
vertical writing are exported into PDF with rotation at 90 clockwise degree.
Western letters are rotated as designed while Asian characters are also
 rotated unexpectedly.

Expectation:
Asian characters should not be rotated.

Comparison:

A small correction:
Linux distribution used to confirm this phenomenon is "Fedora 8" instead of
 "Fedora Core 6."

pl->hdu: please have a look
Comment 6 hdu@apache.org 2008-08-11 14:45:13 UTC
@tora: you did extensive testing and provided excellent bugdocs, thank you!
Comment 7 hdu@apache.org 2008-08-11 14:49:43 UTC
Fixed in CWS vcl93.

mh: I'm wondering if a OOo3.0 target would be more appropriate...

@hdu: Thank you for your prompt fix.

A request for comments about target in the ML of native-lang.

I think Chinese might be more sensitive to this phenomenon than Japanese.

@hi: please verify in CWS vcl93
Comment 12 hdu@apache.org 2008-08-15 11:37:48 UTC
status update: The regression is fixed for all glyphs and on all platforms but there is one exception:
on the windows platform there still is a problem that the positioning of the CJK punctuation symbol
"ideographic full stop" has an offset of about half a character width. This prevents this issue from being
verified. If this remaining problem cannot be solved for OOo3.0 I suggest to split it of as non-OOo3.0
task before the whole regression goes unfixed into OOo3.0.
Comment 13 tora3 2008-08-15 11:48:25 UTC
@hdu: I appreciate your hard efforts. I agree with your suggestion.
Comment 14 tora3 2008-08-20 09:30:52 UTC
@hdu: CWS vcl93 checked out on August 20, 2008 seems to work well on Windows.
I built DEV300_m29 plus cvs update -r cws_dev300_vcl93 in the directory vcl
on Windows and then confirmed the fix with it.

I am attaching a PDF file produced with the build.

@tora: thanks for the feedback! I commited a fix yesterday for the problem I mentioned on August 15th,
so I'm glad to have your confirmation that it works indeed :-) I'll thoroughly check the new fix on all
different platforms.
