Description aaudu 2008-09-28 06:50:43 UTC
My Setup;

Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 64Bit Edition
Oo 300m5
HP Pavaillion DV9000
2GB RAM

Steps
-Create a new blank presentation in Oo Impress
-Insert in a table of any size, you can go with the default 5 x 2
-Insert some text into the table's cells
-Select the text
-Right click on it and add animation to it
-Choose the scrolling right-to-left animation
-Check to see that the animation is running (You would see the original text
stationary, while a copy of the same text scrolls across within the boudaries
of the cell where the text is from right-to-left)
-Run the presentation in slide show mode
-The original text is still visible and stationary, but the animated copy that
was scrolling across the cell when the presentation was being made is not shown
anymore, until you exit slide show mode and return to creating the presentation

*Update to earlier post*

Also repeated with same animation in different cells and different animations in
different cells and obtained the same issue.

Raj (rkahuja): 09/28/2008 : Tried replicating the bug on Build 9354 (Version
OOO300m7) with Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit as Operating System and was able
to replicate the bug. Alternate Summary / steps to replicate the bug:

Bug Summary: Animated Text not visible in slideshow view.

Steps to Replicate:

Step 1: Create a Text Box using Text Box Tool on the Drawing Tool Bar.
Step 2: Add some text into the text box
Step 3: Select (hightlight) the text and right click to select Text option from
the menu that appears.
Step 4: Click on Text Animation Tab.
Step 5: Click 'Scroll through” options under Text Animation Effects and select
direction as 'To left' (Arrow sign leading towards left side)
Step 6: Click “OK” button.
Step 7: Click anywhere outside the text box and observe the animated text
(scrolling from right to left in this case)
Step 8: Hit F5 or select “Slideshow” from View Menu and observe the animated
text is not visible instead a scrolling black box is visible.

Tried other text animation effects like blink, Scroll back and forth, scroll-in
etc and observed similar behaviour.

Text Animation being a basic requirement in any presentation and is extensively
used while in slideshow view (while projecting / reviewing presentations) thus
the bug is recomended for a Priority 2 fix (Affects a large customer base).
Comment 3 Regina Henschel 2008-09-28 16:42:43 UTC
I can confirm the defect for WinXp. It is connected with hardware acceleration.
If it is disabled, the text is shown and the animation runs, if hardware
acceleration is enabled the text is not shown. Therefore it might have the same
reason as issue 93543.

Priority Updated
Comment 5 Regina Henschel 2008-09-28 21:16:14 UTC
@aaudu: Please read the examples in
http://www.openoffice.org/scdocs/ddIssues_EnterModify.html#priority
to see, that it can never be a P2 issue, if a animation effect doesn't work as
fast and smooth as you like.

@regina:

Thank you for pointing that out.

ka=>af: could you take a closer look, please?
Comment 11 groucho266 2009-09-25 10:52:29 UTC
Setting target to OOo 3.3.
Comment 12 groucho266 2010-07-07 14:42:24 UTC
I can not reproduce this problem. It is probably another incarnation of issue
103340 and thus has been fixed in the meantime.
