Description mikeymikemike 2008-10-23 10:12:53 UTC
Requesting a Japanese dictionary for the spelling checker of OOo.

There is a Creative Commons dictionary project (of Jim Breen) online that allows
to adapt their dictionary to projects such as OOo.
The project can be found on:
http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/wwwjdicinf.html#dicfil_tag

There are (converted) .dic files of the Jim Breen project available at:
http://www.japaneselanguagetools.com/docs/WDIC.html

This dictionary has been used in for example the extension Rikai-chan for
Firefox (polarcloud.com)

This has nothing to do with scripting
ab->tl: Please have a look and change to the right (Sub)Component

Request for enhancement. Thus setting owner to requirements.

TL: However this one is a useless request since Japanese (and for that matter
Chinese and Korean as well) can not properly be checked at all by a spell
checker which just gets to see word by word.
For those language the whole sentence needs to be analyzed. Thus something like
a grammar checker should be appropriate.

Sidenote: Unless you find someonein the community to take care of a grammar
checker implementation for Japanese the chances for this one to get attended are
rather slim.

TL->mikeymikemike: Thus you should ask on the lingucomponent list if someone has
the time and skill to implement that.
