Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 96694
WW8: table of contents losing Right Tab stop export as Word 97/2000/XP
Last modified: 2008-12-01 12:46:41 UTC
I have a simple document created with Word 2000 that contains a table of contents where the left and right tab stops have been set so that it does not take the entire width of the page. When I open this document with Writer, make no edits and then Save As... to a different file name, the table of contents TOC loses the Right Tab stop. This means that the right side of the TOC extends beyond the page border and cannot be seen. I have attached the sample input file I have demonstrating the issue and the output file that is produced from the above procedure.

Bug exists in OOO300m9.
Sorry, cannot reproduce the problem mentioned. Cor
Perhaps I was not detailed enough in describing how to reproduce the bug: 1) Open in5.doc in OOO300m9 Writer 2) Select "Save As..." 3) Choose "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc)" and enter out5.doc as filename 4) When prompted select "Keep Current Format", note that document will still look fine in Writer 5) Close Writer 6) Open out5.doc in MS Word 2000 7) Highlight the table of contents, the selected entries will extend past the right margin of the page, the page numbers will not be visible Cor, what version of Microsoft Word are you opening out5.doc with? I will attach a screen shot of the error on my system. Can you please attach your out5.doc file so I can test it in Microsoft Office 2000.

Indeed, one thing was not clear: opening in Word ;-) If I open in Word 2003 I see the effect > Confirm Also add keyword "ms_interoperability" and put "WW8" in front of summary. Can you try the same in a simpeler document, to see what is the cause of the problem? Maybe only one tabstop, or the combination?
