Description Unknown 2003-06-08 16:03:08 UTC
I am new to this website but I am
using OO for about a month.
I have tested the compatibility of Openoffice Writer
and Microsoft Word.

1. Open a new document MS Word.
2. Create a table say with Times New Roman with font
size=12.
3. Count many rows are needed to fill up a page.
4. Similarly do the same with a new Text document but
with OpenOffice Writer.
5. Create a table say with Times New Roman with font
size=12.
6. Count many rows are needed to fill up a page.
7. The number of rows is not the same for both MS Word
and OpenOffice Writer eventhough both document are
using the same Times New Roman and font size=12.

Anybody have any idea how to solve it. I think it is an issue.

regards
Brad Lee

The result printout shows that font size is quite same for both
writer and MS word. But it may be the SPACING TO CONTENTS which may
cause the different of row height.(Format>Table>Border>Spacing to
contents>top and bottom spacings.)

If you testing again without table but instead with just to see how
many fonts size to fill a page. There is also a difference for both.
Then it is the Format>Page>Border>spacing to contents instead of
table.

I can not find where is the equivalent of "spacing to contents" in MS
Word.

We still exchange files with outside which are largely MS Word users

There are similar issue by others like 15342 and 15356.
I would like to make additional comments at their issue.
How do I make additional comments at their issue?

Thank you for taking the time to verify OOo's MS Word compatibility.

Does this problem still exist in the latest version of OOo?

If so, please attach the document that reproduces this problem to this
issue.

Added MS keyword
Comment 5 utomo99 2003-10-13 10:04:19 UTC
Please Attach the documents which make this problem, so we can test
it/faster to confirm.
(Without the documents, we cannot confirm the problem easily/need more
time)
Don't forget to cut other part of the documents, so the file size is
small, but we still able to see the problem.

Please try using the latest OpenOffice 1.1 Final , you can download it
from www.openoffice.org
many bug fixes and enhancements since your version and 1.1 Final . If
the problem still happend in 1.1 please report back

We needn't any sample documents here. This is already stored in two
other issues which will be solved for OO 2.0. See issue 14805 and
issue 21006 for further information.
