Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 21006
Document continues on next page when exported to MS Word
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:41:36 UTC
When I export the attached document to MS Word and reopen it with MS Word, it is longer than in OOo. The problem seems to come from the ending cell caracter (the round with 4 lines in MS Word) which is 6 dots high in OOo but seems to be much higher in MS Word.
Created attachment 10179 [details] This is the original file with the bug in OOo format
Created attachment 10180 [details] ANd this is the result exported. Note that it opens "correctly" in OOo. You have to open it with MS Word to see the bug.
I can Reproduce the problem on OpenOffice 1.1 (default Install, US), Win XP Pro Sp1. (And MS Office XP Sp2). It is real problem when the file saved in Ms office format and open in office XP, there are some extra line. platform and OS change to all, reproduceable in Win XP
Reassigned to MRU
This is because Writer and Word behave different on paragraphs which have a "spacing below" in tables. When the last para in a table cell has a "spacing below" it is ignored by Writer (the spacing is set via the cell borders). In Word, this is taken into account; thus the documents can look a bit different. You can workaround this by setting the paragraph spacing below to 0 cm for the last paragraph in a cell before exporting the document to Word format. In OO 2.0 this problem will be solved by adding a new compatibility option for this. The whole section "compatibility options" (which is currently located in Tools.Options.Text Document.General) will be redesigned and enhanced then.

Fixed in current OO 2.0 by new compatibility option "Add paragraph and table spacings at bottom of cells". See snapshot build 680m38.
