I had the OpenOffice crash 3 times on me. Each time it was when after editing
sxw documents for about 3hrs and i was trying to finish the work and quit all
programs.

Each time I was off-network so feedback program was unable to submit feedback,
but I did copy and paste them into the file. They are in the urls above.

Hope it helps.

Please try to find way how to reproduce the problem. if your problem
only sometimes happend we have difficulty to confirm it is real
problem or not. Please come back with more information. Thanks

Please try to repair your OOo / reinstalling it.

well, I hoped someone with more experience could look into the stack
traces and give me some hints on how to reproduce this problem.

I think this bug has been present for quite long time since I had
similar crash with openoffice-1.0.1-8 (RH8.0). So I ugraded to RC3 in
hope it would go away. But it did not, so I did a clean install of RC4
but it still happened twice.

Even worse on crash it tends to currupt documents somewhat :(

if it helps I can give pointers to the writer files I'm using.

Hi Adam --

Thank you for the crash reports -- they are always appreciated.

It would help very much if you could attach one of the documents that
is causing the problem to this issue.

Please clarify -- does it ALWAYS crash when you close it, or only
after several hours of editing? Any further details would be helpful.

Thanks,

Tam

Any relation to issue 21029?

I do not think so. I do have graphic objects but I do not recall any
freezes or such. Also it seems that if i use "Save" and then "Close"
from menu the crash will not happen as opposed to use "[x]" instead of
"Close".

It seems crash rarely. It seems to crash only when I use the [x] to
close one of the several open write documents. The particular one I
try to close is usually saved.

I discovered that If i just save everything and then use "close"
command to close everything then crash will not happen. Since I'm
reluctant to risk my work it is what I'm using now.

I think it is somehow related to the use of [x] button to close
current document.

hello adam,
it would be helpfull too, if you can attach a file you know the error
occured on. maybe we will be able to reproduce this here.
thanks for the detailed discription in the differences between closing
the docuement with the [x] or over the menu, maybe this will help us a
lot to investigate the problem.

i mean each time the crash happened i had like 5 or so documents open,
not quite the same each time, so I'm not sure if it would help at all,
besides I'm not sure which ones in particular it were anymore.

there's PDF version of the said documents in the
http://www.eax.com/cmsc420

does this help?
Comment 9 jack.warchold 2003-10-30 12:27:30 UTC
hello adam, it would be more helpfull if you send me (by mail if you
prefer) the .sxw. i can not see if something is wrong with the
document format or the document settings or styles if i only look on
the pdf

after testing and playing with the documents on win and linux for several hours,
i could not reproduce this behaviour.

i will leave this issue open, because there is a nother issue schowing the same
behaviour, but i can not confirm this. i now wait for some more confirmations

added keyword needmoreinfo
